The XLS1000 is a true audiophile subwoofer. It is easily capable of out performing a majority of units costing multiples more. A beautifully clean sound with very fast and tight bass at either subtle volumes or at extra high SPL, reproducing deep, dynamic and detailed bass at frequencies down to the infra-sonic. This top-of-the-line subwoofer will exceed the requirements for a majority of systems and rooms with both accuracy in music and explosive effects for Home Theatre that will shake your world! The incredible depth of bass goes down below 18Hz in an enclosure of only 66 litres. An eXtra-Long-Stroke 12" Peerless subwoofer is used, set in the forward firing mode.  levels. The enclosure is made from extra thick & ridged 33mm MDF board with a total of 7 internal  hardwood  bracing ribs(!) made from solid hardwood and interlocked into the side panels to reduce unwanted panel resonance. All bracing ribs and speaker mounting holes are tapered, again to reduce internal turbulence and distortion. To improve performance, all outer edges are also tapered. The box is impressively finished in a premium quality, double-pack black paint, like a piano finish. Genuine wood feature panels, in a choice of Australian woods, are available, complimenting our HDS series of speakers. This is a fine piece of furniture that looks premium audio. Incredible performance requires an incredible amplifier. This kit includes anp. with excellent low frequency and subsonic specifications to utilize the possible performance achievable by this sub. The S200W   are specially Tweaked-Up subwoofer amplifier, manufactured to Stones Sound Studio specifications for driving the XLS range of subwoofers. This optimised amplifier gives a high 200Wrms with very low distortion and excellent stability and specifications.

What is a sub-bass system?

Many so-called ‘full-range’ loudspeakers cannot reproduce the low bass frequencies found on most music and movie discs, which are necessary for the accurate reproduction of the original recording and help to impart a natural ambience that is immediately recognisable by listeners as being closer to ‘the real thing’. Of course, movie DVDs incorporate a dedicated bass channel for the deeper bass special effects, but a properly designed sub-bass system will not only reproduce these with accuracy, it will also augment the output of conventional stereo and surround loudspeakers with very low frequency bass that is felt rather than heard. R-Series represents our first use of digital amplifiers; REL having determined that until recently Class-D amps did not offer sufficient control to meet our standards. However, recent advances in the state of the amplifier art have resulted in a range of amplifiers that demonstrate excellent speed and control, especially in the low bass. When partnered with new drivers that are higher in performance, yet lighter in weight than their predecessors, the result is a new level of performance for the category.

Unique R-Series Features
REL R-Series are not traditional subwoofers, but rather true sub-bass systems. The R-Series is designed to augment the performance of “full range” speaker systems and to provide linear response down to below 20Hz. Properly set-up and positioned, they will take advantage of physics and room acoustics to provide deep pressurization as no other subwoofer can. Unique to the REL are its connectivity options. For two-channel audio systems a high-level connection, using the enclosed cable with the Neutrik Speakon connector, is always the first choice. By connecting to the amplifier’s speaker outputs the sonic signature of the entire amplification chain is folded into the signal for the sub, thereby keeping timing and timbre cues consistent. Additionally, a low-level connection using RCA inputs is always an option, should high-level connection not be possible. In a surround system where both high-level and low-level connection is used, the REL R-Series provides individual inputs and gain control for both the Neutrik high level and .1/LFE input allowing accurate signal blend and balance.
